It’s 2019 y’all. Where does the time go!
Even though January has already passed, I figured I’d share my word for the year (Yeah… I still do that).
TRAIN.
Now, I don’t mean the ‘Choo-Choo!’ kind of train, but the ‘train your child up in the way he should go’ kind of train. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read that scripture more times that I can remember… but this year (well, a day in early January I think) something clicked in my brain when I read it.
Train. Do you know that train actually means: draw along; entice; teach by practice; discipline (Webster’s 1828 dictionary). We have to TRAIN our kids what is acceptable. We have to TRAIN our minds. We have to TRAIN our body. We have to TRAIN our tongue. We have to TRAIN our emotions.
Most importantly, I want to train myself to be a better trainer to my children. I want to work on MY words, so they can improve how they are talking to one another. I want to work on MY reactions, so I can help them work on theirs. I want to be that good example, so that my kids want to grow up serving Jesus.
In a world that’s gone crazy- training is so important.
So, what’s YOUR word for 2019? I’d love to hear about it!
